This is a Japanese tea gift set of green tea (pan-fried tea), oolong tea, and black tea. All of the teas are organic.

In recent years, the Japanese tea industry has become more active in the production of not only green tea, but also oolong tea and black tea. Our shop prepare a gift box with tea from Kai tea farm and Tsushima Oishi tea farm,  famous tea farmers that produce tea with a rich aroma.

These green teas are made by pan-frying, just like Chinese Longjing tea. Most Japanese green tea is made by steaming the tea leaves. Tea made by pan-frying is called Kamairi tea.

Chinese Longjing tea has a good aroma, while Japanese pan-fried tea has a good Umami flavor. If you compare Longjing tea and pan-fried tea, you can see the characteristics of each tea. Pan-fried tea has less astringency and bitterness than typical Japanese green tea.

In the past, Oolong tea and black tea production was not very popular in Japan. Oolong tea and black tea were sometimes produced using varieties intended for green tea. However, in recent years, research has become more active, especially among the younger generation of tea farmers, and fragrant oolong tea and black tea are being produced.

Until now, Japanese tea meant green tea. However, today, Japan has good flavor oolong tea and black tea. Please try it and see for yourself how it differs from oolong tea from China and Taiwan, and black tea from India.

(Takachiho pan-fried green tea)

Takachiho Kamairicha is a tea that has a pan-fried flavor and Umami taste. It has little bitterness or astringency, and is characterized by a refreshing aroma and the deliciousness of the tea. The flavor is well-balanced, and it is the classic taste of kettle-roasted tea.

(Oolong Tea Benifuki)

Very gorgeous and rich in aroma. The moment you drink it, the floral aroma of oolong tea overflows. The taste is refreshing, not bitter, and very fragrant.

This oolong tea is made from a tea variety called "Benifuki". This variety was bred in Japan for black tea and oolong tea. The aroma lingers long after drinking.

(Oolong Tea Unkai)

It is characterized by a subtle floral aroma and a refreshing taste. It is similar to Taiwanese oolong tea, Wenshan Baozhong. The tea variety "Unkai" is for gyokuro and pan-fried green tea, so it has the aroma of oolong tea and the refreshing aroma of green tea. Recommended for cold tea.

(Hand-picked Tsushima Black Tea)

Black tea with a floral aroma like roses and orchids. The lingering aroma of this tea lasts for a long time. This luxurious tea is made by hand-picking only the most delicious parts of the tea leaves, focusing on the core.

The tea leaves are not cut into small pieces, but are carefully processed as they are. When the leaves are left in their original state, they are less likely to have astringent or bitter taste, and the rich aroma of black tea can be fully extracted.

(Roasted black tea)

It has a scent like roses, orchids, and honey. It is the natural elegance of tea leaves. By roasting the tea leaves, the taste is mellow and there is a slight sweetness. It is a black tea with a refined and elegant taste, similar to Chinese Keemun black tea.

FAQ

Which type of of tea can I brew with the teapot?

It can be used for any type of tea. However, unglazed pottery is more likely to absorb the flavor of the tea leaves. By using different tea utensils for each type of tea, you can enjoy the flavor of the tea to the fullest.

For example, in the case of Japanese tea, sencha, fukamushicha, genmaicha, and gyokuro are all in the same family, but since hojicha has a strong roasted aroma, we recommend using a different tea utensil.

However, glazed pottery or porcelain tea utensils do not absorb the flavor of the tea leaves, so they are suitable for brewing various types of tea.

How do you wash a teapot?

Please wash the teapot with water, without using detergent. Ceramic teapots easily absorb detergent ingredients, which can affect the flavor of the tea.

Tea leaves remaining in the teapot are the main cause of tea stains. After brewing tea, we recommend removing the tea leaves once they have cooled and rinsing them with water.

Moisture remaining in the teapot can cause mold. Turning the teapot upside down will help it dry faster.

We do not recommend washing it in the dishwasher. Please wash by hand.

Can I remove tea stains from a teapot?

Here's how to remove tea stains.

1. In a bowl or pot, mix 24g of baking soda with 1 liter of water at 30-40°C.

*Do not use aluminum or Teflon-coated pots as they will react with baking soda.

2. Leave the teapot in the water mentioned in step 1 for 30-60 minutes.

3. Wipe off the tea stains with a soft sponge or cotton swab. Do not use hard sponges or brushes.

4. Rinse the teapot with water.

5. Thoroughly dry the teapot.

*Baking soda water may irritate your hands, so wear rubber gloves.
