This is a Japanese tea gift set of green tea, oolong tea, and black tea. This is a popular item in our store. All the tea is organic.

In recent years, the Japanese tea industry has become more active in the production of not only green tea, but also oolong tea and black tea. Our store prepare a gift box by combining tea from Kai tea farm, a famous tea farmer that produces tea with a rich aroma.

This green tea is made by pan-roasting in a similar process of Chinese Longjing tea. Most Japanese green tea is made by steaming the tea leaves. In Japan, pan-roasted tea is called Kamairicha.

Chinese Longjing tea has a good aroma, while Japanese pan-roasted tea has a good tea Umami flavor. If you compare Longjing tea and pan-roasted tea, you can clearly see the characteristics of each. Pan-roasted has less astringency and bitterness than typical Japanese green tea.

Oolong tea and black tea production was not very popular in Japan. Oolong tea and black tea were sometimes produced from green tea varieties. However, in recent years, research has been active, especially among the younger generation of tea farmers, and fragrant oolong tea and black tea are being produced.

Until now, Japanese tea was green tea. However, today, Japan has delicious oolong tea and black tea. Please try it and see how it differs from oolong tea from China and Taiwan, and black tea from India.

(Pan-roasted green tea)

Pan-roasted is made by roasting tea leaves in a pan in the similar way as Chinese green tea. It is a rare tea, accounting for less than 1% of the national production of Japanese tea. It is only produced in certain areas such as Kyushu, Shikoku, Wakayama, and Shizuoka.

Pan-roasted green tea is a tea that has a rich Umami flavor. It has little bitterness or astringency, and is characterized by a refreshing aroma and the flavor of the tea. It is a special tea that won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award.

(Oolong tea)

Very gorgeous, with a rich aroma. The moment you drink it, the floral aroma of oolong tea fills you. The taste is refreshing, there is no astringency, and it has a very good aroma.

This oolong tea is made from a tea variety called "Benifuki." This variety was bred in Japan for black tea and oolong tea. The aroma lingers long after you drink it.

(Black tea)

A classic black tea with a gorgeous aroma. This tea has a gorgeous muscatel flavor unique to black tea and a rich aroma. The tea leaves themselves have a floral or fruity aroma. Rather than a rich taste type, this is a type of black tea that you can enjoy the aroma.

The "Benifuki" tea variety is a variety for black tea and oolong tea, and it brings out the full potential of the tea leaves. Its flavor is reminiscent of Darjeeling black tea from India, the home of black tea.

FAQ

Which type of of tea can I brew with the teapot?

It can be used for any type of tea. However, unglazed pottery is more likely to absorb the flavor of the tea leaves. By using different tea utensils for each type of tea, you can enjoy the flavor of the tea to the fullest.

For example, in the case of Japanese tea, sencha, fukamushicha, genmaicha, and gyokuro are all in the same family, but since hojicha has a strong roasted aroma, we recommend using a different tea utensil.

However, glazed pottery or porcelain tea utensils do not absorb the flavor of the tea leaves, so they are suitable for brewing various types of tea.

How do you wash a teapot?

Please wash the teapot with water, without using detergent. Ceramic teapots easily absorb detergent ingredients, which can affect the flavor of the tea.

Tea leaves remaining in the teapot are the main cause of tea stains. After brewing tea, we recommend removing the tea leaves once they have cooled and rinsing them with water.

Moisture remaining in the teapot can cause mold. Turning the teapot upside down will help it dry faster.

We do not recommend washing it in the dishwasher. Please wash by hand.

Can I remove tea stains from a teapot?

Here's how to remove tea stains.

1. In a bowl or pot, mix 24g of baking soda with 1 liter of water at 30-40°C.

*Do not use aluminum or Teflon-coated pots as they will react with baking soda.

2. Leave the teapot in the water mentioned in step 1 for 30-60 minutes.

3. Wipe off the tea stains with a soft sponge or cotton swab. Do not use hard sponges or brushes.

4. Rinse the teapot with water.

5. Thoroughly dry the teapot.

*Baking soda water may irritate your hands, so wear rubber gloves.
